Memory:
There are different kinds of memory, generic &
name brand as well as PC100, PC133 & RDRAM. The difference
is the speed the memory can process information. Before you go
out and buy memory, make sure you know what type of memory your
motherboard can handle. If your motherboard requires PC133
memory, PC100 & RDRAM will not work in it.
If you add PC133 with PC100, the system will only
run the PC133 at the PC100 speed.
If you should receive an
“Out of Memory” error, it may be caused by how your memory is being
used by your computer and not that you don’t have enough
memory. No matter how much memory you have in your system, the
first 512K your system uses is called "base memory" and this is
usually what causes the error. If you get this error, don't
rush out and buy more memory just yet, it may not help! Have a
technician look at how your memory is be used.
Memory prices change almost daily, so if you were
looking at memory that costs $75 last week, it may only be $50
now. Then again, it could have gone up and is now $100.
Most importantly, make SURE the memory you purchase will run in your
computer! Not all memory works in all computers.
